Agriculture is the main branch of the economy in Botosani County.
Every year the concern for securing assurance of standard conditions for agriculture increase. In 1997 the arable sector includes 291.516 ha.
Hayfields are on a surface of 14.187 ha and they assure the necessary fodder for the livestock.
The county is also rich in vineyards (3.373 ha) and orchards (3.634 ha).
Referring to the breeding in the last years, one can observe a decrease, but however Botosani is among the biggest cattle breeder (over 500.000 sheep in our county). There are also a big number of pigs and cows, especially in private sector.

Merchandise trade is a distinct sector of economy and it is in a relative development compare with the other sectors.
