In Botosani almost all the industrial branches are represented and a very large variety of products are achieved: light industry and clothing (31%), food industry (22%), electrical devices (10%), technical articles of rubber (8,4%), furniture (2,4%). The clothing industry in Botosani County is unique at national level given the large number of employees in this sector, as well as the existing factories. All of these factories work mainly for export, having contracts, either directly or through intermediary companies, with the world's leading fashion designers.

Agriculture is the main economic branch of the county and concentrates most of the labor force. 80% of the total area of the county is the agricultural area, with 60% of the population living in rural areas. Agriculture has undergone major transformations, currently practicing ecological agriculture, fruit growing (eg. apple orchards from Sulita, Curtesti), zootechnics etc.

In 2017 the arable land was 298.738 ha. The meadows spread over an area of 14.635 ha and provide, in large part, the necessary feed for the livestock. Also, the county is rich in vineyards (1.680 ha) and orchards (2.559 ha).

Although there has been a decrease in animal breeding, however, the county is one of the country's largest sheep breeders (over 500.000 heads). There are also a large number of pigs and cattle, mostly in the private sector.

The goods trade is a distinct sector in the economy and it has experienced relative growth compared to other sectors. In recent years the number of business people working in the trade has increased. Of these, the most important are those with private capital. In this sector there was an infusion of foreign capital and 68 mixed companies were formed. The evolution of the economic development will also influence the trade in the county.

Hunting and fishing

As complementary branches of the county economy, hunting and fishing are areas of great tourist attraction. Hunting is mostly linked to forests where many animals of hunting interest live.

Fishing has expanded more in ponds where systematic fish farming is practiced. Moreover, fishing has old traditions in this part of the country.

Accessibility is an essential condition for effective economic development. That is why there is a continuing concern for creating a modern infrastructure.
